IGC Successfully Rehabilitates $5 Million WQ1 Work Camp Facility for Almco, Delivering Quality Construction and Turnkey Solutions
IGC has successfully undertaken a remarkable project for Almco, involving the comprehensive rehabilitation of a work camp facility. The project, valued at $5,000,000, showcased our expertise in construction and our commitment to delivering high-quality results within a challenging timeframe.
Our scope of work encompassed the design and construction of a fully functional work camp to cater to the needs of employees. This encompassed the provision of top-notch facilities such as sleeping areas, bathrooms, a gym, kitchens, and other essential amenities. We also took care of the furniture and catering requirements, ensuring that every aspect of the work camp was meticulously planned and executed to perfection.
The construction phase of this project spanned a duration of 7 months, from July 20, 2018, to January 30, 2019. Our dedicated team of professionals worked tirelessly to meet the project milestones and deliver outstanding results.
Basra-Barjisiya - Accommodation & Work Camp Construction
The Basra-Barjisiya Accommodation & Work Camp Construction project was a joint venture between IGC and Vector International, with the client being HB. The project involved the design, supply, installation, erection, and construction of various facilities to establish an accommodation camp and work base. Here are the key details of the project:
Accommodation Camp:
- Residential Camp: IGC and Vector International designed and constructed a residential camp to provide accommodation for personnel. This included the installation and construction of living quarters.
- Kitchen/Mess Area: A dedicated kitchen and mess area were constructed to cater to the dining needs of the camp residents.
- Recreation and Gym Area: Facilities for recreation and fitness, such as a gym area, were provided to enhance the well-being of the camp residents.
- Laundry Court: A laundry court was constructed to meet the laundry needs of the camp residents.
- Medical Clinic Area: A medical clinic area was established to provide medical services and support to the camp residents.
- Offices Building: Office spaces were constructed to accommodate administrative and operational functions.
- Security Barracks and Security Office: Dedicated facilities were built for security personnel to ensure the safety and security of the camp.
- Perimeter Walls & Gates: The camp was secured with perimeter walls and gates to control access.
- Pathways and Car Parking Plots: Infrastructure such as pathways and designated parking areas were established to facilitate movement within the camp.
- Power Generators and Electrical Distribution: The camp was equipped with power generators and an electrical distribution system to ensure a reliable power supply.
- Sewage and Water Treatment Plant: Facilities for sewage treatment and water treatment were installed to manage waste and provide clean water.
- RO Unit: A reverse osmosis unit was included to produce clean and potable water for the camp residents.
Work Base:
- Workshops with Life-Support Area: Workshops were constructed to support various activities, with dedicated areas for personnel well-being.
- Warehouse: A warehouse was built to store necessary equipment and supplies.
- Vehicles Washing Rack: Facilities for washing vehicles were provided to maintain cleanliness and functionality.
- Bulk Outdoor Storage Area: An outdoor storage area was established to accommodate bulk storage requirements.
- Acid Treatment Area: A designated area for acid treatment was included to support specific operational needs.
- Chemicals & Oil Barrel Storage Area: A safe and organized storage area for chemicals and oil barrels was constructed.
- Road System Network and Fencing: A network of roads was developed to facilitate movement within the work base, and appropriate fencing was installed for security purposes.
Project Timeline and Delivery: The project commenced in January 2010 and was completed by July 2011. IGC delivered the completed camp to the client and also provided three months of operations and maintenance services to ensure smooth functioning.
Catering Service: As part of the project, IGC provided catering services to remote sites for one year. This included the provision of both dry and cooked meals to meet the dietary needs of personnel stationed in those areas.
Overall, the Basra-Barjisiya Accommodation & Work Camp Construction project aimed to establish a comprehensive and well-equipped camp and work base to support the operational requirements of the client. The facilities provided encompassed accommodation, dining, recreation, medical support, security, storage, and infrastructure, ensuring a conducive and functional environment for personnel

- Fuel Tank Farm: Conducted comprehensive repairs of underground and above-ground fuel tanks, including the installation of loading and off-loading skids.
- Fuel Tank Farm Maintenance: Performed regular cleaning, testing, and inspection to ensure optimal operation and safety.
- Metal Structure Building Rehabilitation: Executed extensive structural repairs and enhancements to restore functionality and extend the lifespan of facilities.
International Organization for Migration (IOM)
- Residential Rehabilitation: Restored housing for 100 families (72 units), providing safe and comfortable living conditions.
- Educational Facilities Expansion: Expanded and rehabilitated multiple schools, including Babylon Primary School, Rouh Al Quds Primary School, Al Qayoom School, and Asia School, enhancing educational infrastructure and learning environments.
- Work Camp Construction: Built and upgraded accommodation and work camps, ensuring efficient and safe living and working conditions for staff.
Al Mansour Melia Five Star Hotel
- Electrical Infrastructure: Supplied and installed medium & low voltage electrical systems, earthing lightning systems, and fire fighting systems, ensuring safety and reliability.
- Advanced Systems Installation: Deployed interpretation systems, IP CCTV, and radio dispatching systems, enhancing communication and security.
Building Expansion
- Constructed a two-floor building with 1300 m² of fully furnished accommodation, leisure, and office spaces, delivered as a turnkey project.
Brazilian Embassy in Baghdad
- CCTV and Furnishing: Installed comprehensive CCTV systems and furnished the embassy with high-quality office appliances and furniture.
Schlumberger HQ in Baghdad

Over the past five years, IGC has successfully completed renovations of over 10 twelve-floor buildings, encompassing painting, flooring, exterior improvements, door installations, electrical work, and plumbing.
